Equipment Used To Make Network

Equipment Used To Make Network | Computer Networking
If you want to create a computer network that is wider -reaching , it would require additional equipment such as Hub , Bridge , Switch , Router , Gateway as its interconnection equipment . [ 2 ]
1 . Hub ( Hub )
A hub is a computer networking device that serves to connect the equipment to the fiber optic ethernet 10BaseTatau thus making within a single network segment . Hubs work at the physical layer ( layer 1 ) of the OSI model . Hubs are used as the transmission of data retrieval from the client computer .
2 . Bridge Networking
Bridge network (English : Network bridge ) is a network component that is used to expand the network or create a network segment . Network bridge operates at the data link layer of the OSI model . The bridge can also be used to combine two different network media , as well as between media cable Unshielded Twisted - Pair ( UTP ) cable with fiber optic or two different network architectures , as well as between Token Ring and Ethernet . The bridge will make the signal transmitted by the sender but did not do the conversion to the protocol , so that the two network segments connected to the bridge there should be the same network protocol ( such as TCP / IP ) . Bridge network also occasionally protocol support Simple Network Management Protocol ( SNMP ) , and some of them have other diagnostic features .
There are three types of common network jemabatan :

Local bridge : a bridge that connects the local network segments .

Play bridge : it can be used to make a connection ( link ) between the LAN to create a Wide Area Network .

Wireless bridge : a bridge that can combine wired LAN and wireless LAN networks
3 . Switch ( network switcher )
Diversion network ( or switch ) is a network tool that performs taktampak bridge ( connecting partitioning (segmentation ) with the transfer of many network by MAC address ) .
Network switch can be used as a link penghala computer or on a limited area , diversion is also working on the data link layer ( data link ) , how the diversion is almost the same as the bridge ( the bridge ) , but the switch has a port number that is often called the bridge pancaporta ( multi - port bridge ) .table of contents

1 Type Switch

1.2 ISDN Switch

1.3 DSLAM Switch

1.4 Ethernet Switches

2 Port uplink

1 . Type Switches
There are several types of switches on the market , which works at Layer 2 and Layer 3 in the OSI layers .

1.1 ATM Switch
Asynchronous Transfer Mode is a mode of transfer is arranged in the form of cells . Asynchronous intent is repetition of cells containing information from the user is not necessarily periodic .

1.2 ISDN Switch
ISDN ( Integrated Services Digital Network ) Switch or a term known as Frame Relay switch over ISDN which is usually found on the Service Provider works just like a switch , but have differences that are used in the form of an ISDN interface card or an ISDN router .

1.3 DSLAM Switch
A Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer ( DSLAM , often pronounced dee - lam ) allows telephone lines to make faster connections to the Internet . It is a network device , located in the telephone exchanges of the service providers , that connects multiple customer Digital Subscriber Lines ( DSLs ) with high- speed Internet backbone line using multiplexing techniques . By placing remote DSLAMs at locations remote to the telephone exchange , telephone agency, providing DSL service to locations previously beyond effective range .

1.4 Ethernet Switches
An Ethernet switch is a LAN interconnection device that operates at the data - link layer ( layer 2 ) of the OSI reference model . switch is basically similar to a bridge , but usually support a larger number of LAN segments are connected and have a richer management capabilities . LAN medium was replaced with the more modern media enabled , by installing Ethernet switches and bridges in the hubs and repeaters . The logical partition traffic to travel only during the network segment in the path between the source and destination . This reduces the wasted bandwidth of the results of sending packets to the network that does not need to receive the data . There is also the benefit of a security enhanced ( users are less able to tap -in to the data's another user ) , better management ( the ability to control who receives any information ( ie Virtual LAN ) and to limit the impact of network problems ) , and the ability to operate some links in full duplex ( duplex over half needed to access shared)

2 . uplink ports
Uplink port is a port on a hub or [ [ network switch ] | switch ] ] that can be used to connect a hub / switch with other hubs in a network based on Ethernet technology . By using uplink ports , hubs can be arranged in stacked to form a larger network using Unshielded Twisted Pair cable is cheap . If the hub is being used does not have an uplink port , then we can use UTP cables arranged in a crossover .

4 . Router ( Penghala )

Router or penghala (English : router ) is a device that sends data packets through a network or the Internet to the destination , through a process known as penghalaan . Penghalaan process occurs at layer 3 ( network layer such as Internet Protocol ) protocol stack ( protocol stack ) seven - layer OSI .

function
The router serves as a liaison between two or more networks to carry data from one network to another . Denganswitch different routers . Switch is connecting several tools to form a Local Area Network ( LAN ) . As an illustration of the different functions of a router danswitch streets , and is the liaison between the router path . Each home is located on a street that has an address in a specific order . In the same way , a switch connects various kinds of devices, where each device has its own IP address on a LAN .
Routers are very widely used in network technology based TCP / IP , and router types that are also called IP Router . In addition to the IP router , there is another AppleTalk router , and there are several other types of routers . The Internet is a prime example of a network that has an IP banyakrouter . Routers can be used to connect many small networks into a larger network , called the internetwork , or to divide a large network into multiple subnetworks to improve performance and simplify management. The router is also sometimes used to mengoneksikan two networks that use different media ( such as wireless routers in general besides he can connect the computer to the radio, it also supports linking computers with UTP cables ) , or different network architectures , such as Ethernet to Token Ring .
The router can also be used to connect a LAN to a telecom telecommunications services as well as leased line or Digital Subscriber Line ( DSL ) . Routers are used to connect a LAN to a leased line connections such as T1 , or T3 , often referred to as an access server . Meanwhile , routers are used to connect local networks to a DSL connection is also called a DSL router . The types of routers generally have a function firewalluntuk perform packet filtering based on source address and destination address of the packet , although some routers do not have it . Router that features packet filtering is also called denganpacket - filtering router . Routers generally blocking traffic data emitted broadcastsehingga can prevent the broadcast storm that can slow network performance .

The types of routers
In general , routers are divided into two types , namely :

static router ( router static ) : is a router that has a static routing table in the settings manually by the network administrator .

dynamic router ( router dynamic ) : is a router that has a dynamic routing table and makes , by listening to network traffic and also to interact with other routers .

Bridge versus Router
How it works is similar to a bridge router network , which they can forward the data packet network and can also divide the network into multiple segments or unify network segments . However , the router runs on the third layer of the OSI model ( network layer ) , and using the addressing scheme used on that layer , as well as an IP address . Meanwhile, the bridge network runs on the second layer of the OSI model ( data link layer ) , and using the addressing scheme used in that layer , the MAC address .
Then , when the use of a network bridge is done and when the use of a router do ? Bridge , should be used to connect network segments that run the same network protocol ( for example : an IP -based network segment to another IP network segment ) . In addition, the bridge can also be used when there are in the network protocols can not perform routing , as well as NetBEUI . Meanwhile , the router should be used to connect network segments that run berebeda network protocols ( such as IP network segment to connect to the IPX network segment . ) In general , smart routerlebih compared with bridge network and can improve network bandwidth , since routers do not forward broadcast packets to the destination network . And , the use of a router is most often done when we want to connect our network to the internet .
